MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL JESSICA BROWN

October 26, 2017

Dear Cedar Creek Family,

Fall is here, so that means it's time for the Cedar Creek Fall Family Fun Fest!  Bring the entire family to our Fall Family Fun Fest this Saturday, October 28, 2017, beginning at 4:00 PM.  This is a great opportunity to mingle with your friends from Cedar Creek. I hope to see many of you there! Please see flyer below for more information.

On Monday, our kindergarteners, first graders, third graders, and fifth graders will participate in the annual vision and hearing screenings. In addition to maintaining the health and comfort of our students each day, Nurse Sherry Bulluck coordinates preventative health screenings, such as our vision and hearing screenings for our campus. We are quite fortunate to have such a dedicated and committed nurse at CCE.

As October draws to a close, many students are eagerly anticipating Halloween on Tuesday, October 31, 2017.  Although Tuesday is Halloween, students will not be wearing costumes to Cedar Creek Elementary School.  However, I'll look forward to seeing the children in the neighborhood Tuesday evening. District-wide, students will also enjoy a No Homework Night on Tuesday, October 31, 2017.

Looking ahead, join me for our wonderful Walk to School Wednesday tradition on Wednesday, November 1, 2017.  Hopefully the weather will allow for a crisp walk to Cedar Creek!

Warm regards,
Jessica Brown

                                                         Veterans Day

Cedar Creek will celebrate Veterans Day on Monday, November 13th in the cafeteria, with a reception to follow in the Commons.

We have three special opportunities to honor CCE's military family and friends:

Video Tribute Casting Call

Please invite local veterans to participate in a special video for the Veterans Day Program. On Wednesday October 18th from 9:30-12:30 and/or Tuesday October 24th from 10-12:30. They can visit Cedar Creek to share, on camera, what Veterans Day means to them. All recruits should report to the front office during those hours, sign in and ask for Tara Johnson (tmkleinert@gmail.com)

Veterans Wall

Every year we create a wall of Veterans' photos to display on the butterfly garden windows. If you contributed a picture in previous years, we'll post it! If you would like to submit a new picture, here's how:

1) Please print a hard copy* (preferably 8 x 10) with the following information on the back:

* Name of Military Personnel

* Branch of Military

* Years Served

* Name of Related Student/s

* Other Pertinent Details (e.g. Served in Vietnam or Active Duty)

2) Deliver photos to the front office. You'll find a Veterans Day folder to the right of the sign-in station.

The deadline to submit pictures is Tuesday, November 7th.

*Please do not send originals. Pictures will be laminated for future use and are non-returnable.

For changes to existing pictures or other photo wall questions, please contact Tara Johnson at tmkleinert@gmail.com

Veterans Day Assembly and Reception

Please save and share the date for this wonderful celebration of service for Cedar Creek families and local veterans:

                                                               Socktober

We have been invited to join Forest Trail in their efforts to collect new children and adult size socks throughout the month of October. Bridge Point Elementary is also accompanying us this year. GO EANES!

Last year socks were donated to:
