MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL JESSICA BROWN

November 30, 2017

Dear Cedar Creek Family,

It's wonderful to be back with all of our Cedar Creek students after a relaxing Thanksgiving holiday. As we are entering the final stretch this semester, we will continue to balance important learning and special events. At school, our routines are in place, even as the excitement of our upcoming winter break approaches.

Today, the entire CCE student body was entertained by a fantastic musical performance by our talented fifth grade students called, "Go West." This musical was under the direction of our wonderful music teacher, Mrs. Creel. To enjoy more music, make plans to see our accomplished Eagle Singers at Wonderfest this Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 2:45-3:15 PM at Westlake High School. The Eagle Singers are comprised of 3rd-5th grade students who meet weekly after school with Mrs. Creel.

Community Approves Penny Swap & Drop/TRE

Eanes ISD voters overwhelmingly passed the proposed tax ratification, or Penny Swap & Drop proposition by 89 percent in the November 7 election. The TRE approval lowers the overall Eanes ISD tax rate by more than a penny to $1.20 and adds an estimated $3 million of non-recapturable funds to the district's operating budget.

SEL Highlights Self-Awareness & Self-Management

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) focus highlights self-awareness and self-management. "There is an emerging body of research that indicates mindfulness can help children improve their abilities to calm down when they are upset and to make better decisions," which is being self-aware.
