Cedar Creek Elementary

April 5, 2018

Dear Cedar Creek Family,

On Tuesday, I had the pleasure of announcing our Cedar Creek 2017-18 Educator of the Year at our assembly.  It is with great pride that I congratulate our exceptional instructional partner, Amy Tillman, as this year's recipient of Educator of the Year.  Mrs. Tillman was selected by her peers for this district award.  As a veteran educator, Mrs. Tillman has been in the education profession for 23 years.  For those of you who are not familiar with the role of instructional partner, it is a vital position in our district.  The instructional partner (IP) is the liaison from the district curriculum department to each staff member on our campus. In addition to the curriculum support, the IP serves as a mentor to any teacher who may seek support.  The IP should be willing to do a variety of roles and help facilitate district initiatives on a campus.  Mrs. Tillman is one of the best instructional partners in the district because she is extremely knowledgeable in her subject matter and is respected by all members of our campus.

The nominations for Mrs. Tillman state, "Amy is amazing!  She wears more hats on this campus than anyone and she is always willing to help.  She is very professional and well-organized.  She is able to multi-task and be attentive to needs around CCE.  She is the best! Amy Tillman is admired throughout the Eanes ISD community for her poise, confidence and dedication to teaching.  She leads with a quiet demeanor and makes a difference wherever she goes. Amy builds strong relationships with the staff and students.  Mrs. Tillman is literally the glue that holds our school together.  Her dedication to our staff is exemplary."

I wholeheartedly agree with the nomination.  Mrs. Tillman's quiet presence can be felt throughout our school.  Whether a teacher, student or administrator needs help, Mrs. Tillman is always available to assist.  Mrs. Tillman is an IP who can be found in a variety of locations at CCE.  At the beginning of the day, she faithfully conducts her morning duty helping children in the crosswalk. This year, Mrs. Tillman has been at the helm of several programs such as TELPAS and the 4th grade STAAR writing pilot.  In her spare time, Mrs. Tillman is finishing her K-12 librarian certification from the University of Texas.

Not only is Mrs. Tillman an inspiration to students and teachers, but, along with her husband, Brian, she is a devoted parent to Cedar Creek Eagles, Sawyer and Ian.  Please join me in congratulating the dedicated and poised Mrs. Amy Tillman as our CCE Educator of the Year!

Looking ahead, we invite all 4th grade parents to our upcoming math informational meeting. Eanes ISD provides several options for math in fifth grade. Students in fourth grade will have the opportunity to select 5th grade math or 5th/6th compacted math.  A letter explaining the process will be sent out on April 12th. To help guide you in this decision, please attend an informational parent meeting on April 19th at 8:00 a.m. in the Commons.

On Tuesday April 10 and Wednesday April 11, our 5th grade students will be taking their Reading and Math STAAR assessments.  Please be sure your children have a good night's sleep and arrive on time to school.  Additionally, please send a snack and water to school with your child both days.

Have a great week!

Warm regards,

Jessica Brown
