MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL

Dear Cedar Creek Families,

I continue to be so proud and humbled to be the principal at Cedar Creek Elementary!  We have a hard-working staff, dedicated parents, and smart and kind students!  As we end September, we end the month of Booster Club fundraising.  We are also about to embark on the month of October, which is EEF (Eanes Education Foundation) fundraising month.  We are not in the fundraising business, we are in the "kid business," but without the dedicated efforts of both Booster and EEF, we would not have many staff positions (such as counselor, librarian, nurse) and instructional materials, which allow us to educate our students effectively.  I want to personally thank the many parents who help with Booster Club and EEF, but who also help by donating their time and efforts to volunteer in the classes and school.  WE APPRECIATE ALL PARENTS AND DONORS!

We are excited to celebrate International Day tomorrow at CCE!  Thank you to everyone who has participated in bringing in a board to celebrate the different countries and cultures represented at our school.  We plan to have some special guests at our extended Friday Assembly (7:40-8:20AM), followed by rotations throughout the day, where students will be able to share countries and cities they have visited, understand currency from different countries, and view the special boards families have created to share their culture.  We invite students to dress up tomorrow to share their culture or represent a culture they are interested in; we ask that students follow the school dress code, and also not wear masks or bring weapons or toys.  Due to the many allergies at our school, and wanting to ensure safety for all students, we will not be serving food at this year's International Day.  We thank you in advance for understanding, and hope you will help to spread the excitement for the many other educational additions we are incorporating in the place of food.

Conferences are coming up!  Parent conference sign-up will begin on Tuesday, October 9, at 4:00 PM. In an effort to give families a little more control over selecting a time to accommodate schedules, we will be using Skyward's Conference Scheduler. Through Family Access, parents will be able to choose a conference slot during the conference days, October 24-26. Please sign up for one time slot per child. The deadline to schedule or switch conference dates will be October 19th by 4 PM.  After that time, if an emergency arises, please contact the teacher directly.

Below is a link to a 90 second tutorial. For additional questions about this process, please reach out to your child's teacher.

We have had another successful week at CCE!  We are excited to see everyone tomorrow morning for Friday Assembly at 7:40AM!  Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions, concerns or want to celebrate a bright spot on our campus!

See you at school soon!

*New session added on Nov 1st at 5PM* Does talking about our differences make you anxious? Are you afraid of saying the wrong thing, or offending someone else? If we have trouble talking about diversity as grown-ups, how can we help our children to navigate the diverse world they are inheriting? Join Eanes ISD parent and author, Carolyn Helsel, for a three-part discussion series on the Gifts of Diversity: Understanding our Differences through the Lens of Gratitude.
