Dear Cedar Creek Family,

Next Tuesday, September 26, 2017, will be our first Early Release Day.  CCE students will be dismissed at 12:50 PM. Buses will run and lunches will be served.

Our wonderful librarian, Shannon Foley, states, "Earlier this week, our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders enjoyed an author visit with Texas Bluebonnet Award nominee Elizabeth Eulberg. Next week, our kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd graders will see Texas 2 x 2 Award winning author and illustrator Ryan Higgins. Students will visit with the author and illustrator of the "Mother Bruce" series at 8:30 AM on Thursday, September 28. Parents are invited and welcome at the visit. Autographed copies of the books can be purchased ahead of time with the order forms going home in today's Thursday folders."

An exciting Cedar Creek tradition will continue next Friday, September 29—International Day!  We are fortunate to have Ana Gilligan serve as our chairperson this year. Students will share cultures and foods with their peers at Cedar Creek.  The day is meant to be a commemoration of the varied cultures and nationalities of the world, so students are invited to wear traditional cultural attire celebrating their heritage or places they would like to visit.  We will start our morning with an International Day video, followed by a song performed by our kindergarten students in Mr. Ferrer and Ms. Kilpatrick's class. Additionally, the Mariachi Band from Crockett High School, WHS Star Steppers, Great Promise for American Indians and students from the Samskra Academy will share experiences with our students at our assembly. Please be sure and stop by the Commons to view unique cultural artifacts that will be on display for all to peruse.  During FIT time, students will have the opportunity to taste foods from around the world provided by classroom volunteers.  Due to the extended assembly schedule, our 4th grade students will begin FIT at 8:25 AM. As a reminder, please be sure any foods brought to share are nut-free and have the teacher name and recipe attached to the dish.  I look forward to celebrating International Day with our Cedar Creek community.
